Harris Tweed is hand-spun, hand-woven, and dyed by the crofters and cottars in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. The Harris Tweed trademark was registered in 1910. The mark consists of an orb with a Maltese cross on the top of it, and the words Harris Tweed underneath the symbol. Today, genuine Harris Tweed is checked by an inspector from the Harris Tweed Authority before being stamped, by hand, with the orb symbol. This collection of acessories, made in Canada, showcases the sublime colours and exquisite texture that define the work of Donald John Mackay, a second generation weaver of authentic Harris Tweed on the Isle of Harris, in the Outer Hebrides.
